I had the honor of participating in the contest to design the cover for Artribune magazine on the theme of cultural exchange for the month of November, with a focus on foreign students in Florence. 

Below, you can see my two proposals.

Concept 1

THE DIVE

My initial proposal aims to capture the emotions experienced by an out-of-town student when relocating to a new city. Reflecting on my childhood, I recall the fear of jumping off the diving board: the height was daunting, the water's temperature unknown, and the fear of injury loomed large. The act of taking that leap held great significance, as it required summoning the courage to conquer uncertainty.

Similarly, my relocation to Florence revealed how my bravery had been rewarded with the enchanting embrace of a splendid city and a multitude of exciting encounters. Like when I was a young girl, summoning the courage to leap, I came to realize that my fear of the water had been unfounded. Within this new environment, I discovered a sense of well-being and harmony I had never felt before.

Concept 2

THE DOOR

The second concept springs from a universally shared experience: returning home at night. I believe this experience has profoundly altered my relationship with and perception of home. In the past, home was a realm inhabited by people, emotions, and cherished memories. However, since my return, it has transformed into a room defined by its four walls, resembling a blank sheet of paper waiting to be filled with countless new experiences.

Habit consistently led me to open the front door without regard for its shape, color, or even the literal door handle. Conversely, the novelty of Florence compelled me to reflect on the transformations occurring within myself and my surroundings. Each evening now unveils a new door handle, offering fresh prospects of experiences. This symbolizes the ever-evolving nature of my journey and the endless possibilities that lie beyond.

Furthermore, the notion of opening a book cover mirrors the act of opening a door, both filled with the promise of new stories waiting to be discovered.
